Anna Freiesleben promoted to Project Lighting Designer
In response to the incredible growth and success of the business, multi award-winning lighting design practice Michael Grubb Studio is thrilled to promote Anna Freiesleben to the role of Project Lighting Designer.
Since joining the studio, Anna has utilised her skills in notable projects and has contributed to the success of many of the company’s recent projects through her passion, skill, and dedication. Anna also took part in the 2021 SLL Ready Steady Light Challenge where the Michael Grubb Studio team were crowned a Technical Award Winner.
In her new role, Anna will have more independence when working on projects, and expand upon her involvement in various bespoke lighting projects across multiple sectors. Anna will gain greater experience on site focusing and commissioning projects and working on the final RIBA stages, liaising one-to-one with programmers to deliver the studio’s vision through optimum lighting control and detailing. Such projects include Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station, Newcastle City Centre and Ad Gefrin Distillery.
This new role will involve Anna managing the upcoming Great Ormond Street and Queen Square project, with background support. Collaborating with LDA Design, the project vision is to draw on biophilic design to create a playable, restorative, sociable and inclusive place for the patients of Great Ormond Street Hospital, their families, NHS staff and the local community.
Discussing her new role, Anna stated: “I am extremely excited for my new position, to continue expanding on the range of projects I have worked on across various sectors. It has been a joy to work on projects such as Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station, to have been involved from concept stage to final delivery and to see how our designs have translated on site within an iconic piece of architecture. I am grateful to learn from my inspiring colleagues and collaborations with other amazing design teams. I welcome all new challenges and experiences the role will bring.”
Michael Grubb, Founder and Managing Director of Michael Grubb Studio, said: “Anna is a dedicated member of the team, and has proven her excellent technical and design skills through her work on various projects. It is an exciting opportunity for her to build her portfolio and take a more active role with clients and stakeholders in a project management position.
“I’m so proud of what Anna has achieved and I am excited to see where her new position takes her as part of the team.”
