Hi-Tech & Digital Skills Centre, South Devon College
Michael Grubb Studio has been appointed by South Devon College to work in collaboration with LHC Architects to design a dynamic exterior lighting scheme for their new Hi-Tech & Digital Skills Centre.
The scheme has been developed in the context of a wider masterplan, both for the former Syntech factory site within which it is immediately located and holistically within the overall main College campus. The new Centre will provide additional capacity to meet the growing demand in hi-tech engineering, digital & creative media and computing.
The Hi-Tech Skills Centre is formed of two linear teaching blocks, each three stories in height and linked together by an atrium ‘street’. The southern teaching block has been splayed in an arc form, thereby opening up the atrium width to provide the buildings main entrance façade.
