Michael Grubb Studio shortlisted for three [d]arc awards

Michael Grubb Studio is proud to share the exciting news that three of their exceptional projects have been shortlisted in this year’s [d]arc awards.

The team has triumphed with two remarkable entries in the ‘Places- High Budget’ category: the Photography Centre at the V&A and Ad Gefrin. Meanwhile, Princes Circus has also secured a shortlisted place in the ‘Spaces- High Budget’ category.

Michael Grubb Studio is particularly delighted to see the distinctive lighting design schemes for each of these projects gain well-deserved recognition in the prestigious awards.

For the Photography Centre at the V&A, Michael Grubb Studio’s expertise truly shines through. Having previously collaborated with the V&A Museum on multiple projects, the studio was directly appointed to craft the lighting design for galleries 95-99 of the brand-new Photography Centre. The challenge was to create lighting that seamlessly complemented the rich historical architecture of the V&A Museum.

At the Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery, Michael Grubb Studio was entrusted with creating a lighting design that not only showcased the Ad Gefrin brand but also enhanced the visitor experience across various areas, including a working whisky distillery, barrel store, bistro, retail space, function room, museum, and the grand atrium entrance.

The completion of Princes Circus marked the final instalment in a series of award-winning West End Projects commissioned by Camden Borough Council, totalling £2.25 million. Michael Grubb Studio’s contribution to Princes Circus, Whitfield Gardens, Alfred Place, and Huntley Street included delivering a bespoke lighting scheme.

The [d]arc awards, known for celebrating the best in lighting design, rely on votes from independent lighting designers, light artists, interior designers, architects, and product designers to select the winners. Voting is now open through the [d]arc awards website. The winners will be announced on the 27th of March at Fabric, London.
