The V&A Photography Centre Phase 2 is Open to the Public

London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) is renowned for its expansive collections of art and design works.

In 2017, the Museum expanded its photographic holdings through the acquisition of the Royal Photographic Society Collection. The V&A subsequently pledged to develop a world-class centre for photography at its South Kensington location, enabling visitors to explore the medium of photography and ‘expect the unexpected’.

To celebrate the completion of the second and final phase of the Photography Centre and its opening to the public, V&A hosted an evening of presentations by artists Noémie Goudal and Tarrah Krajnak on Tuesday 23 May 2023.

Noémie Goudal and Tarrah Krajnak were both featured in the opening displays of the Photography Centre. Goudal’s film work related to ‘Untitled (Giant Phoenix)’ was screened, following a Q&A with Marta Weiss, Senior Curator of Photography and Lead Curator of the Photography Centre. Krajnak performed a poetry recital, followed by a Q&A with Fiona Rogers, Parasol Foundation Curator of Women in Photography.

Having worked with the V&A Museum on several projects previously, Michael Grubb Studio was appointed to create the lighting design for galleries 95-99 of the new Photography Centre.
