Queensway Residence, London, UK
Working on residential projects delivers stunning results for homes that embrace a lighting scheme. A beautiful penthouse apartment in Queensway, West London provided the backdrop.
No uninspiring residential down-lighting to be seen here.
The lighting design solution was a unique lighting scheme for each individual living space, with lighting integrated within the industrial features of the building. Collaboration was with the owner, Robin Lee Architects and property developer Baylight.
Lighting was easily controlled via traditional ‘Bakelite’ switches from each space.
The architectural arrangement of the building dictated the lighting solution.
Wall lanterns comprising of back-lit onyx glass were incorporated within the steel girders. These decorative, fully dimmable, elements provided much of the ambient light. Additional decorative reclaimed pendants were then sourced to soften the space. This created a more relaxing and personal environment.
Depth and interest helped to highlight key architectural features.
This included uplighting discreetly incorporated within the apex ceiling, various skylights, the stairwell and recessed light boxes within shower units.
The home now provides a calm, welcoming environment to unwind.
Lighting was used sparingly so not to over light and also to enhance views across the city at night.
